Y rhai a gymerodd ran yn y gwasanaeth yn Eglwys Gatholig San Mihangel – All who took part at St Michaels RC Church.

Mae Eglwysi Ynghyd Tyddewi yn dathlu ei hunfed mlwydd ar hugain yn ystod 2016, a bu Tabernacl Tyddewi yn ei chanol hi o’r cychwyn!

Sefydlwyd Cyngor Eglwysi Tyddewi (fel y’i gelwid yn gyntaf) yn 1995 gan Ddeon y Gadeirlan ar y pryd hynny, sef yr Esgob Wyn Evans. Gweithiodd Mrs Elaine Morgan (a faged yn y Tabernacl) yn ddyfal fel Ysgrifennydd a Pherson Cyswllt i’r Cyngor o’r cychwyn tan yn ddiweddar, ac fe’i cynorthwywyd yn ei gwaith gan aelodau brwdfrydig y pwyllgor.

Ceir cynrychiolwyr o’r saith enwad Cristnogol sy’n weithgar ym Mhenrhyn Dewi yn y gymdeithas, gan gynnwys Cymdeithas y Cyfeillion, yr Eglwys Gatholig, yr Anglicaniaid, y Bedyddwyr, y Grwpiau Tai, yr Annibynwyr a’r Presbyteriaid. Trwy waith yr Cyngor llwyddodd Cristnogion y Penrhyn i gydweithio’n agos gan gydnabod eu gwahaniaethau o ran cred a chydwybod. Codwyd miloedd o bunnoedd at achosion da, yn arbennig felly at Gymorth Cristnogol a chronfeydd trychinebau o bob math.

Cychwynodd dathliadau’r flwyddyn ar y 4ydd o Hydref 2015 pan gynhaliwyd gwasanaeth dwyieithog Sul y Beibl yng Nghapel y Tabernacl. Daeth cynrychiolwyr o bob enwad i gymryd rhan ynghyd ag ensemble offerynnau pres Ysgol Dewi Sant. Gwahoddwyd Esgob Wyn i bregethu, a gwnaeth hynny yn addas iawn ar bwnc Undod Cristnogol. Gan ei fod yn dathlu ei ben-blwydd ar y diwrnod hwnnw, canodd y gynulleidfa “Pen-blwydd Hapus” a chyflwyno rhoddion penblwydd iddo.

Rhoddwyd te i bawb yn y festri a gwahoddwyd yr Esgob a Mrs Elaine Morgan i dorri cacen y dathliad. Roedd festri’r Tabernacl yn le addas iawn ar gyfer yr achlysur gan mai yno y cynhaliwyd cyfarfod cyntaf y Cyngor yn 1995.

Ar ddydd Sul, Ionawr 16, 2016 cynhaliwyd gwasanaeth i ddathlu Undod Cristnogol yn Eglwys Gatholig San Mihangel, a’r Parch Ddr Adrian Furse, ficer Solfach oedd yn pregethwr gwadd. Cymerodd cynrychiolwyr o bob enwad ran yn y gwasanaeth. Yn ystod yr wythnos olynol cynhaliwyd pedwar dosbarth Beiblaidd yn yr eglwysi amrywiol ac ar y Sadwrn canlynol, mwynhaodd bawb ginio cawl a chrymbl yn Neuadd y Ddinas.

Dymuna Eglwysi Ynghyd ddiolch i bawb am eu cefnogaeth i weithgareddau’r flwyddyn ddathlu hon fel arwydd o’r dystiolaeth Gristnogol yn y gymuned.

St Davids’ Churches Together is celebrating its twenty first year during 2016, and Tabernacl Chapel has been fully involved in this work from the beginning!

The St Davids Council of Churches, as it was first known, was established in 1995 by the then Dean of the Cathedral, Bishop Wyn J Evans. Mrs Elaine Morgan, (who was brought up at Tabernacl) worked as the Secretary and link person from the very beginning until recently, and she was ably assisted by other members of the committee.

The council consists of the seven Christian denominations active in the peninsula ranging from the Society of Friends, the Roman Catholics, Anglicans, Baptists, House Churches, Congregationalists and Presbyterians. It has allowed the Christians of Dewisland to work together in close harmony whilst respecting their sincerely held differences. Thousands of pounds have been raised for charity, in particular, Christian Aid and various disaster funds.

The year’s celebrations were begun on the 4th of October 2015 when a bilingual Bible Sunday service was held at Tabernacl Chapel. Representatives of all the churches together with Ysgol Dewi Sant’s Brass Ensemble took part. Bishop Wyn was invited to address the congregation, and he did so on the appropriate subject of Christian unity. As he celebrated his birthday on that day, the congregation marked the event by singing Happy Birthday and offering suitable gifts.

The tea was served in the vestry, and Bishop Wyn and Mrs Elaine Morgan were invited to cut a celebratory cake. The vestry was an appropriate location for this meal, as the first meeting of the Council was held there in 1995.

On Sunday, January 16th 2016, a service to celebrate Christian Unity was held at St Michael’s RC Church in which the guest speaker was the Rev Dr Adran Furse, the vicar of Solva. Representatives from all the member churches took part. During the following week, four Bible classes were held in various churches and on the following Saturday, a Cawl and Crumble lunch was enjoyed at the City Hall.

Churches Together wishes to thank everyone for their support for the activities of this celebratory year as a sign of the Christian witness in the community.
